Our Services

Megan Henderson is an experienced Clinical Psychologist dedicated to fostering genuine happiness, well-being and emotional resilience across all ages.
Assessments
Megan provides comprehensive educational assessments—also known as psychoeducational, learning, or diagnostic assessments—for children from 6 years old and above. These assessments aim to support inclusive school practices by building on each learner’s strengths, interests, and individual profile.
Educational assessments are used to:
-
Understand a student’s cognitive, academic, and developmental profile
-
Identify learning strengths and areas where support may be beneficial
-
Explore factors that may be impacting learning or engagement
-
Inform personalised strategies to support educational and emotional wellbeing
Where appropriate, assessments may also contribute to the identification of neurodevelopmental conditions, including:
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
-
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
-
Specific Learning Disorders (e.g., Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia)
-
Intellectual Disability
-
Giftedness
These assessments provide evidence-informed insights to help guide parents, educators, and health professionals in supporting the child or young person. The focus is on working collaboratively to enhance learning outcomes and promote wellbeing in educational settings.
Therapy Interventions
Megan Henderson is a registered psychologist with over a decade of experience in private practice, providing therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her approach is grounded in optimism, collaboration, and evidence-based care.
Megan draws from a range of therapeutic models including:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Positive Psychology
These approaches help individuals better understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Therapy may involve building awareness of unhelpful thinking patterns, developing skills to shift perspective, and working toward actions that align with personal values—even in the presence of emotional discomfort.
The aim is to support psychological flexibility, emotional resilience, and meaningful engagement in life.
Focus and Availability
Megan Henderson offers therapy for young children and their families, with a focus on early intervention and collaborative parent involvement.
Megan works part-time (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) and enjoys working with parents who are ready and motivated to support their child’s treatment.
If your goals align with Megan’s current scope of practice, we welcome the opportunity to work together in supporting your child’s emotional and developmental wellbeing.
Areas of Focus
Megan enjoys working collaboratively with children and families to support a range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. Her approach is warm, practical, and grounded in evidence-based strategies tailored to each child’s needs and strengths.
Megan has a particular interest in supporting children who experience:
-
Anxiety and worry – including generalised anxiety, separation anxiety, and specific fears
-
Social difficulties – such as social anxiety, friendship challenges, or difficulties with confidence in group settings
-
School refusal or school-based distress – working closely with families and educators to understand the underlying concerns and support gradual return-to-school planning
-
Self-esteem issues – helping children build a stronger sense of self-worth, self-compassion, and confidence in their abilities
-
Perfectionism and fixed mindset – guiding children toward a more flexible, growth-oriented approach to learning and mistakes
-
Performance-related stress – assisting children involved in sport, music, academics, or other areas to manage pressure and perform at their best while maintaining wellbeing
Megan’s sessions often involve skill-building, emotion coaching, and parent collaboration, ensuring that strategies are reinforced at home and in everyday contexts. Her work is informed by a belief in the importance of early support, strong relationships, and fostering resilience through strengths-based, developmentally appropriate approaches.
